Candied Yams
Updated: Nov 18, 2021
One of my must haves during Thanksgiving, and pretty easy to make. It’s hard to mess these up. I do not put marshmallows on my yams; mainly because they are already sweet enough.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Peel and slice your sweet potatoes, rinse them off and dry them. Place the yams in your greased baking dish. In a pot add in your butter, cinnamon, sugars, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Bring to a low rolling boil letting the sugar dissolve a bit. Make sure you taste it and adjust spices and sugar if you need to. Pour the mixture over the yams and bake for 20 minutes covered with foil. After 20 minutes take the foil off and base the yams with the candy mixture, put them back in the oven for another 20 minutes or until they are fork tender.
Ingredients
4 large sweet potatoes
1 stick of unsalted butter
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon of honey
