Homemade General Tso’s Chicken
I don’t feel like telling a story today lol we are preparing for a tropical storm at this very moment..So I’m dropping this gem and getting back to handling a few things.
Cooking Process
First thing you have to do is marinate your chicken in rice wine vinegar, water, salt, white pepper, and sesame oil. Mix it together, then add sesame seeds, cornstarch and flour. Set it to the side
For the sauce, in a bowl mix together low sodium chicken broth, soy sauce, molasses, brown sugar and rice wine vinegar. Set aside.
Boil some broccoli and set it to the side.
Make sure your chicken is evenly coated and then you can start frying the chicken; making sure the oil covers the chicken completely, do not over crowd your pot. Fry until it’s a golden brown, set it to the side on a plate lined with a paper towel to get rid of the extra oil.
In your skillet or wok heat some cooking oil and add in red pepper flakes, cook the peppers for about 30 seconds, add in your minced garlic, and rice wine. Add in the sauce that you prepared earlier, bring it to a boil and then add in your cornstarch and water mix, let it cook for about 2 minutes giving it a good stir. Add in your honey, chicken and broccoli, mix well In the sauce making sure to coat the chicken and broccoli. Let it cook until the sauce starts to thicken. Serve with steamed or fried rice.
