Salisbury Steak /Hamburger Steak

Salisbury Steak /Hamburger Steak

This is a true comfort- hearty dish packed will an amazing flavor. I love making this on days when I don’t feel like doing too much in the kitchen, serve it with mashed potatoes or rice; with a veggie and you’re good to go.. oh don’t forget the cornbread or a roll. The gravy is a must and it’s really easy to make as well, the whole family will enjoy this. It’s normally made with ground beef, but I prefer ground turkey, either way it’s good.

Cooking Process

Mix your ground meat, egg, Italian bread crumbs, diced onion, bell pepper and seasonings all together. Form the meat into a hamburger patty, add butter to a skillet and fry for about 5 minutes on each side. Once you’re done frying all the meat, set it to the side. In the same skillet with the drippings add some butter along with your sliced onions, saute until onions become brown, add in your mushrooms- those are optional, saute for about 3 minutes. Once those are sauteed you can now start on your gravy. Add butter and let it melt; then add the flour. Stir your flour for about 1 minute, add in your beef broth and bring the gravy to a simmer. If you’re gravy is not thick enough, in a separate small bowl add in water and cornstarch to thicken it up. Taste the gravy to determine if you’d like to add more seasoning. Add your patties in with the gravy and simmer for about 25 minutes.
