Southern Green Beans
2 lbs of fresh, trimmed, cleaned green beans (cut ends off of the beans)
7 slices of bacon diced
2 cups of low sodium chicken broth
1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 small yellow onion diced
Clean and trim the ends of the green beans and make sure to pat dry. In a pot cook your diced bacon to your liking. Once the bacon is done set it to the side. Add the onion to the bacon grease and cook for about 1 minute. Next add your green beans to the pot, along with the chicken broth, bacon, and your seasonings. Cook on a low simmer for 40 minutes to 1 hour, it depends on how soft you like them. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
